When it comes to using medication with clients, I am not only in the dark, but I’ve been very discouraged over the years. When someone does need medication, I’ve often been at a loss where to refer them. That is until I met Will. He’s a pioneer here in Boulder when it comes to holistic psychiatry and is the psychiatrist I refer to if my friends or clients need medication or additional treatment support.
Dr. Will Van Derveer MD will be giving this 1-day workshop on how gut health, adrenal functioning, nutrition, vitamins and supplements, can be used to enhance outcomes and minimize reliance on medications in the treatment of anxiety, depression, insomnia, post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, and other symptoms.
Will is an urban shaman who combines western medicine with eastern and shamanic views and practices to help support his clients. He’s a great friend and brother, and an extraordinary human being.

Workshop Description: Come spend a day learning from Boulder’s local holistic psychiatrist. What complementary and alternative tools work and why? What is the evidence? Where to even start? Learn about a comprehensive holistic approach to adding potency to the process of psychotherapy, and how this can be integrated with conventional approaches. Neurotransmitters, hormones, the gut, and the adrenals: how to put it all together in a way that makes sense, is safe and effective, and most of all, helps your psychotherapy clients feel better supported through their healing journeys.
Intended Audience: This workshop is intended for therapists who want to enhance their ability to educate their clients and refer them to complementary and alternative treatments, psychiatrists, nutritionists, acupuncturists and other health providers.
About the presenter: Dr. Van Derveer is Boulder’s leading teacher and doctor in the expanding field of holistic psychiatry. His areas of expertise cover a broad range of complementary and alternative treatments aimed at balancing a dysregulated nervous system. These areas include assessment and treatment of gut dysbiosis, adrenal fatigue, food sensitivities, hormone imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies. A diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he is traditionally trained as a physician, and he has sought training in alternative and complementary approaches due to limitations with the effectiveness of conventional treatments. In over 10 years of practice in Boulder, he has found great success treating a wide variety of conditions using his unique blend of psychotherapy along with traditional and alternative physiological supports.
