I Am The One, You Are The One

Remember Neo in the matrix?

His main task on his hero’s journey was to find out if he was “the one” and then to live it.

In my view, we are all “the ones” that need to face our own karma.  We are the ones that we have been waiting for.

The beauty in this approach is that Neo couldn’t just be the solitary “one,” nor could he have sat alone and figured it out. He needed Trinity and Morpheus to also be the ones. In other words, he needed them to be true to themselves and follow their path, which just so happened to be helping Neo step into his power. By helping Neo, they stepped into their greatness along the way, each of them supporting each other. Even though the movie focused on Neo as the central “hero,” it was a mutually supportive process. He needed them tostep in to their fullest selves. There’s no way Neo could have done it alone. When each of us is being “the one” we are here to be, we support the greater collective shift, together.

So, in that vein, I’m practicing owning that I am the one. When I do this, it helps me get out of my victim stance and into a more empowered stance. I practice more and more agency and self respect. I don’t expect others to save me or do it for me (even though sometimes a part of me wants them to).

So, here’s my way of practicing personal responsibility toward meeting my life fully and directly:

I am the one.

I am the one in my life that Life needs.

It stops with me.
It starts with me.

I am the one who is willing to heal everything inside of me and learn how to love everything about me.

I am the one to parent my kids by growing all wounded parts of myself up.

I am the one who enjoys burning up in the fire of my life.

I am the one who is willing to put an end to the lineage of abuse, neglect, shame and guilt by no longer believing that I am a victim.

I am the one who is willing to clean up the past and clear the path for my children.

I am the one who is willing to listen deeply to all sides.

I am the one who says no to blame, shame, and victimhood.

I am the one who is willing to see my part.

I am the one who is willing to practice receiving what is here now.

I am the one who knows that everything in my life is completely trustworthy.

I am the one who is willing to choose love over fear.

I am the one who is willing to heal my scarcity and trust that I am completely and utterly supported.

I am the one willing to walk my talk and model the kind of human I want my kids to embody.

I am the one who is willing to fall down, fail miserably and make mistakes so that I can learn and become who I am.

I am the one willing to put myself out there over and over no matter how much I fail or get judged.

I am the one willing to take responsibility for my own judgmentalism, violence, and hatred and where I shut down to love.

I am the one who is willing to get it done in this lifetime.

It stops with me.
It starts with me.

I pray for the courage to be the one, to be completely myself in this lifetime and to relax into this cosmic mystery.

I am the one.

You too are the one. Own it.

Bravo, Jayson. Well taken, and well spoken.

One of my great teachers, Werner Erhard, defined “responsibility” and “the willingness to acknowledge that you are Cause in the matter, whether you recognize it at the moment or not.”

You out-loud declaration that you are Cause, the One that decides and acts, is the ultimate in accepting responsibility for creating your life the way you want it.

May your words ring out in the hearts of men (and women) throughout this year, and may we use these words to wake up more fully to the world we want to create – together.

Reading these words made my chest swell. I feel both my power and my vulnerability. I think if I woke up every morning with this reminder it would sink in more and take firm root in my being. I know these lessons are inside me, but sometimes they get covered up with “stuff”. Much gratitude!

One of the most powerful things I learned from watching the Matrix was the metaphor of “Waking Up”. Throughout the movie, Neo was attempting to “wake up” others to their own divine nature. From a male perspective we must commit to “waking up” and coming to the understanding that “we are the ONE” as you mentioned in your post.

Our challenge is to be willing to go against the societal and cultural conditioning of what a man is supposed to be like and to Wake Up and acknowledge our divinity.

I believe that the Agents in the film represented all of our fears and it isn’t until we become courageous enough to face them head on (like Neo did in the subway)that we can come to truly know who we really are and why we are here.

We are here to wake up to the truth, we are the ONE!

Great post about my second favorite movie of all time!
